Early Childhood Lab School Assistant (Part-Time)

Pay

This is a Part-Time Support Staff position at grade 9, with an hourly pay rate of $16.81 to $19.37. The offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Schedule

6 hours per day between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

About the role

An employee in this classification performs work of routine difficulty by providing child care services and completing required documentation. Work is distinguished by the ability to provide a safe environment. Work is performed under direct supervision of the manager and/or director.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain direct supervision of the children to ensure a safe and developmentally appropriate environment at all times.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to foster learning and development.
• Provide routine care for children of different ages.
• Assist with completing required documentation.
• Assist in classroom and materials preparation.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Child care experience and knowledge of child development.
• The ability to communicate with children and parents.

Preferred Qualifications

• A working knowledge of Department of Children and Family Services licensing standards and center policies.

Physical Demands

• Medium (up to 50 lbs. occasionally or 30 lbs frequently or 10 lbs constantly)
• Visual acuity (arm's length)
