Eagle’s Wing Child Care and Education Programs is a highly diverse childcare center on the UW-Madison campus providing early-childhood, 4K, and school-age programs for children from 6 weeks to 8 years old. We offer a high-quality, child-initiated, and play-based learning environment known for our multicultural, international community. About the role

Schedule

The primary schedule for this position is four days per week, 7:30am – 5:30pm. The work schedule will be set with selected finalist(s) at the time of offer and may be altered as operations and position expectations demand.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates individualized and developmental educational plans for children in collaboration with other stakeholders, as needed
  • Mentors new teachers and students
  • Maintains and documents effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay pertinent information and provide updates of child activities per established guidelines and regulations
  • Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom
  • Plans and facilitates classroom programming and schedules daily classroom activities for an early childhood education facility according to established curriculums

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or a closely related field required, plus experience working in a full-day, play-based Early Childhood Education program OR
  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or a closely related field required, plus two years of experience working in a full-day, play-based Early Childhood Education program

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two or more years of experience as a lead teacher in a full-day, play-based Early Care and Education program
  • Training in High Scope, Pyramid Model, and/or Conscious Discipline
  • Experience working with infants and toddlers

Pay

The starting annual salary is $48,500 or higher based on qualifications with a competitive retirement and benefits package, including vacation, holidays, and paid time off. Benefits information.

Additional Information

  • First-time employees must complete a physical exam (at their own cost) to provide proof of a negative TB skin test prior to the first day of employment, and again every 2-5 years.
  • This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial criminal background check to be eligible for employment and then every four years thereafter.
  • As a caregiver position at Eagle’s Wing Child Care Center, the candidate will also be required to pass an initial background check through the WI Department of Children and Families (DCF) to be eligible for employment and then yearly thereafter. DCF background checks may require fingerprinting as part of the checks.
  • Successful applicants are responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment.
