You are the vital link that ensures our educational journey never misses a beat, providing temporary coverage that's about more than just filling a seat. Instead, you'll maintain a continuous, effective learning environment where student safety and well-being are top priority. When the regular teacher is away, you'll step into the heart of our classrooms to uphold school policies and foster a productive atmosphere that keeps our students inspired.
What You'll Do
- Instructional Continuity: Deliver engaging education across various subjects by implementing pre-planned, hands-on lesson plans and instructional materials that bring learning to life.
- Creating a Sanctuary: Enforce school rules and behavioral expectations consistently and fairly in a safe, orderly, and respectful classroom environment.
- Active Supervision: Ensure the highest standards of safety by supervising students during instructional times, transitions, lunch, and outdoor activities, providing a secure and nurturing environment.
- Communication Excellence: Provide a clear, concise summary for the regular teacher regarding the day's activities and student progress, and report any immediate concerns to administration with professionalism.
- Professional Integrity: Maintain strict confidentiality of student information and school records while adhering to all academy policies and ethical guidelines.
Requirements
- Heart & Soul: Must possess patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for guiding children through creative and academic challenges.
- Essentials: Must pass all required background clearances and fingerprinting as required by South Carolina state law and academy policy.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships with students, staff, and administration.
- Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred).
- Professional Competencies: Proactive self-starter who demonstrates a continuous growth mindset and a commitment to process improvement.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable;
- Knowledge of STEAM or Montessori frameworks is a plus.
