Early Childhood Education Consultant, Bureau Early Intervention

About the role

The Early Intervention (EI) program supports infants and children with developmental delays, empowering families and ensuring equitable access to services.

Responsibilities

• Represent Early Intervention as a liaison to childcare centers and staff.
• Provide in-person and virtual trainings to childcare programs.
• Offer coaching and technical assistance on early childhood topics, trauma-informed conversations, and inclusive practice.
• Manage caseloads and maintain positive relationships with childcare programs and staff.
• Review, organize, and document data from childcare programs.
• Transport and carry EI and related materials to childcare programs.
• Collaborate with NYC Health Department staff and childcare programs.

Priorities

• Experience working with early childhood programs, childcare, and children aged birth to 5.
• Validated experience in developmental screenings.
• Strong presentation and training skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple relationships.
• Travel and carry up to 15 pounds of equipment.
• Experience collecting, understanding, and organizing data.
• Customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing volunteers.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in education with 12 semester hour graduate credits in early childhood or elementary education and 3 years of full-time satisfactory experience in early childhood education.
• Bachelor's degree in education with 3 years of full-time satisfactory experience in early childhood education.
• Five years of satisfactory teaching experience as a licensed teacher of early childhood education may substitute for the 3 years of full-time satisfactory experience.

Special Note

To be considered for Assignment Level II, candidates must have an additional year of the full-time satisfactory experience described above.
