About the role

The Early Childhood Development Technology Instructor - Part Time (Pool) position is open for applications. This position remains active for 12 months and candidates must update and resubmit their application if they wish to continue being considered for future opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with course objectives and institutional standards.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to support student learning.
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including technology-enhanced learning, to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote academic growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessments in accordance with college policies.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Serve as an academic resource for students, offering guidance on coursework, study strategies, and academic progress.
  • Encourage student engagement through active discussions, collaborative projects, and real-world applications of course material.
  • Be available for student inquiries and provide office hours or virtual support as needed.
  • Promote an inclusive classroom environment that values diversity, equity, and mutual respect.
  • Model professional behavior and ethical conduct in interactions with students, colleagues, and staff.
  • Uphold academic integrity and encourage a culture of honesty and accountability.
  • Address student concerns with empathy and professionalism while adhering to institutional policies.
  • Support and contribute to a positive, respectful college community that enhances the overall student experience.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in early childhood education, or a related field, or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline.
  • In lieu of the applicant having a master’s degree, the college will consider, as appropriate, undergraduate degrees coupled with specific instructor-level qualifications include the following certifications: American Red Cross First Aid, Communicable Disease Recognition, Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition, Child and Adult CPR, and/or Knowledge of Health and Safety in Child Care Programs.
  • Demonstrated: In-depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication in the language in which assigned courses will be taught.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Belief in and concern for community service.
  • High ethical and moral character.
  • Proficiency with email.
  • Willingness to teach in a variety of instructional delivery modes including the use of instructional technologies and online learning management systems.
  • Commitment to meeting students’ learning needs and empowering students in their learning endeavors.
  • Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives, and mission of Central Ohio Technical College.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in the subject area.
  • Previous teaching experience and experience with curriculum development and assessment.
