Position Specifics

The Bennett Family Center is seeking an Early Childhood Development Educator -Pre-K Counts committed to the process of creating and providing high quality learning environments for children and families. Assignment will be in a preschool classroom. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Supporting and maintaining high quality classroom standards in a mixed age setting
  • Coinciding and implementing an innovative curriculum model with a team of colleagues
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships of cooperation and respect with all co-workers, supervisors, and families
  • Providing oversight and training of interns and student teachers in early childhood education undergraduate programs
  • Maintaining standards in accordance with Pre-K Counts, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation and PA Keystone STARS 4 quality standards

Clarification of Minimum Requirements

  • This position minimally requires a Bachelor's degree, plus 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Minimum Education, Work Experience & Required Certifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • 1+ years of relevant experience; or minimum of Child Development (CDA) Credential

    • Required Certifications: None
    • Required to hold PA Early Childhood Education Teaching Certification
    • Previous work experience using the Environmental Rating Scale (ERS), Positive Behavior Support (PBS), and PA Early Learning Standards (ELS) highly desired
    • A health physical with TB test is also required prior to starting the position

Background Checks/Clearances

  • This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks:
    • PA State Police Criminal Background Check
    • PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form
    • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check
    • The National Sex Offender Registry Clearance (NSOR)

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $36,888.00 - $53,532.00. Salary Structure - Information on Penn State's salary structure

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
