About the role
The Vivian Olum Child Development Center seeks applications from individuals interested in and qualified to work in the center. Applications will be reviewed as needs arise and positions are available for hire.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement an educational, developmental, full-day year-round childcare program for a classroom group or across classroom groups.
- Collaborate with co-teacher to plan the classroom curriculum.
- Complete child observations and assessments.
- Interact with children, parents, and families.
- Provide daily supervision of classroom support staff and student staff.
- Maintain the safety and continuity of the program.
Requirements
- A current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR certificate.
- A childcare worker food handler's card.
- Clearance with the Central Background Registry (CBR).
- Enrollment in ORO and completion of a Step Evaluation.
- Completion of 15 hours of professional development annually.
Qualifications
- An Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from a recognized program.
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
- A minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- One year of experience in a certified day care center or comparable group care program.
- Two years of experience, including at least one year as a teacher, in a certified day care center or comparable group child care program.
Skills
- Effective communication with children, parents, and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Proficient knowledge of applicable state child care regulations, or similar regulatory standards.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships with staff and families.
- Excellent decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in computer use (word processing, email, calendar, time clock).

The center is open 8:00 am to 5:30 pm Monday - Friday.
