About the role

The Early Childhood Afterschool Care Assistant supports the Kids' Club Director in providing a nurturing and structured environment. The aide assists with instructional activities, classroom management, supervision, and student support to help ensure the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of students.

Responsibilities

  • Picks up students from their classroom at the end of the day
  • Gather backpacks, snacks, and mats
  • Directs and assists with supervision of students, assuring their safety, positive growth, and development
  • Creates a positive image of the Early Childhood Afterschool Program in the school and parish community through constant, positive communication
  • Always keep students safe by continuously performing a head count of students and monitoring surroundings at all times
  • Have parents sign out their child at pick up and make sure parents and families leave in a timely manner
  • Reinforce classroom routines, expectations, and behavior management procedures
  • Maintain a ratio of 1:10 at all times per DCYF laws
  • Support students in developing independence, responsibility, and positive peer interactions
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters
  • Available on early release Wednesdays and select noon-dismissal days to work extended hours in Kids' Club
  • Clean the floors and tables of the Early Childhood Afterschool Program classroom
  • Prep and implement crafts and fun projects for students
  • Practice fire, earthquake, and lockdown drills with students in Aftercare for continued safety at all times
  • Prepare and maintain binder of emergency contact information of students in case of emergency or late pick up
  • Have knowledge of students in Aftercare with food/environmental allergies

Pay

Hourly rate: $20-24. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma required
  • Active MERIT account with up-to-date STARS documentation and a commitment to 10+ STARS hours annually
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting preferred
  • Complete required background checks, Safe Environment/Virtus training, and CPR/First Aid requirements
