Early Childhood (3-6) Lead Teacher

About the role

The Woods, A Montessori School, in Woodbridge, VA, is seeking a Lead Early Childhood (3-6) Teacher for the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year starting on August 17, 2026. The position is for one year and is open to candidates with a passion for working with young children and the Montessori philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Give Montessori lessons
• Make observations
• Keep daily records
• Communicate with parents through various mediums
• Train and manage assistant faculty
• Provide care and support to all children

Qualifications

• AMI or other MACTE Certified Early Childhood Montessori Credential
• Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• A commitment to The Woods' mission values of peace, independence, love of learning, and respect
• Flexibility and commitment to working in a team atmosphere
• Comfortable with electronic record-keeping
• Willingness to work during Summer Camp (preferred)

Pay

Salary: $60,000+ depending on experience and level of education

Schedule

Hours are 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with occasional evening meetings and two weekend events a year.
