Early Career Structural Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to support our Oak Ridge, TN office. In this role, you will participate in the design process, assist in developing design calculations, design drawings, and construction specifications for structures made of steel, concrete, and masonry. You will focus on new design challenges, expanding your career skills while supporting the development of life-changing infrastructure that improves communities across the United States.

Requirements

• Sole US citizenship (required to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable regulations)
• B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering school
• 0-3+ years of post-education experience
• Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure procedural compliance for all work accomplished
• Competence using Microsoft Office software
• Reside within a commutable distance from our Oak Ridge, TN office
• Ability to learn new software as necessary for project success
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where requirements may evolve throughout projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Engineering in Training (EIT) certificate obtained or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment

Essential Functions

• Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting (up to 20 lbs. for supplies, drawings, etc.)
• Longest distance carried: 50 feet
• Hand manipulation required for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation (right and/or left hands utilized)
• Occasional need to reach and/or work above or below the shoulder
• No foot controls necessary
• Must be alert to equipment in the field; occasional travel required
• Work near construction job site equipment when in the field
• Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery
• Occasional walking on uneven ground
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights

Pay

$61,000 - $86,000 (actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws)
