About the role

This opportunity provides entry-level support for construction, maintenance, environmental sampling, and technical field operations. The successful candidate will develop core proficiencies in equipment handling, safety practices, data collection, and documentation standards, as well as build foundational technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with routine field tasks such as using testing instruments, supporting protection and controls testing, and gaining experience in the fundamentals of electrical system components and overall structure.
  • Observe and learn site safety practices including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Recognize and report unsafe conditions, malfunctioning equipment, or unclear instructions to supervisors.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and communication regarding assignments.
  • Work cooperatively with crew members and maintain professional behavior in the field.
  • Develop basic understanding of how to navigate fieldwork safely and responsibly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some experience in electrical testing or related job capacity
  • Some experience or demonstrated interest in field service work, in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing
  • Completion of electrical circuits analysis series, or other courses with AC power system theory
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Willingness to participate in required safety and operational training sessions

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology (preferred)
  • Completion of junior-level courses in power system analysis and/or power system protection (preferred)
  • Enrollment in or completion of a vocational, trade, or technical training program (preferred)
  • Prior electrical or construction internship experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA (plus)

The ideal candidate demonstrates a willingness to learn, good communication skills, and developing problem solving abilities. Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus.

Benefits

Regularly required to lift up to 35 pounds individually, and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
