Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer
About the role
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer in our Houston, TX office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving site characterization; shallow and deep foundations; retaining structures; numerical analysis of stability and deformation; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and geotechnical hazard characterization and mitigation, while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

Responsibilities
- Conducting geotechnical field investigations
- Performing and reviewing engineering calculations
- Developing, installing, and managing instrumentation and monitoring systems
- Developing construction documents
- Monitoring heavy civil construction projects
- Writing and reviewing engineering reports
- Driving personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering (required)
- Master's or PhD degree in geotechnical engineering (preferred)
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification (preferred)
- Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting (preferred)
- Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice
- Excellent writing and communication skills (required)
- Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, SLIDE, and PLAXIS (preferred)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel (required)
Skills
Regular field work and overnight travel are required. Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing are also required.
