Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy an assay to systematically evaluate and improve the fixation quality and preservation of brain tissue
  • Establish and integrate quantitative metrics of molecular readout, e.g. protein retention, antigenicity, and labeling quality across tissue preparation conditions
  • Work closely with in vivo research technicians to design experiments, evaluate results, and optimize Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Drive the development of data-analysis pipelines to routinely generate key performance indicators of sample tissue quality
  • Generate an in-house pipeline for binder design/discovery, validation, and optimization of epitope-binder pairs in hydrogels to improve the readout of epitope barcode bits and relevant native synaptic proteins
  • Develop novel highly multiplexed protein readout strategies for protein barcodes and molecular annotation of synapses and cell types

Requirements

  • Mission-aligned experimental scientist with a strong background in neuroscience and molecular biology
  • Experience in developing and deploying assays for tissue preparation and molecular readout
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in data analysis
  • Experience with in vivo research techniques and standard operating procedures
  • Knowledge of hydrogel technology and its application in protein readout
  • Experience with multiplexed protein readout strategies

Qualifications

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, or related field
  • At least 3 years of postdoctoral experience or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience with high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics tools
  • Experience with microscopy and image analysis software
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with machine learning and AI tools
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB
  • Experience with database management systems
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $100,000 - $191,000 per year
  • Up to 20% team performance-based bonus
  • 401(k) match up to 6% of base salary

Pay

$100,000 - $191,000 a year Scientist base salary range: $100K - 165K Senior Scientist base salary range: $127K - 191K
