About the role
Perform emergency services and contents restoration work nationwide while adhering to company policies and procedures regarding remediation.
Responsibilities
- Pack customers' contents
- General on-location cleaning
- HVAC cleaning and deodorization of facilities
- Assist with the inventory of site contents
- Set up of emergency services equipment and prepare contents for storage
- Lift items into storage
- Environmental remediation: removal and disposal of hazardous waste such as asbestos, lead, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and other hazardous materials
- Demolition: assess damaged areas to determine what can be restored or returned to operation, then remove charred/wet debris and structural materials
- Adhere to EPA, OSHA, and local requirements regarding safety and hazardous materials handling
Technical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
Work Environment
- Work around equipment and machinery in environments that are usually dirty, dusty, and noisy
- Work on uneven ground/surfaces containing hazardous or potentially hazardous substances and/or materials
- Subject to inclement or extreme weather conditions and temperatures
- Handle hazardous materials and use personal protective equipment
- Frequent travel is required
Physical Demands
- Must be in good physical health and meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination and drug screening
- Able to wear full and half face respirator
- Able to work in confined spaces
- Regularly lift and carry 50+ pounds
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of construction experience, preferably working on water/fire damage, assisting with contents, environmental experience, and hazardous waste
- Must be willing to travel and work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to follow directions
- Good communication skills and commitment to company safety policy
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
Additional Qualifications
- Construction industry experience preferred
- Heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience a plus
- Bilingual English/Spanish is encouraged, but not required
