E&C Technician - Williston, ND

About the Role

The E&C Technician is responsible for electrical maintenance and new construction at all company facilities. The technician should be familiar with NEC standards for wiring and company-specific standards for calibration and maintenance of all instrumentation. Additionally, the technician will install and maintain all company communications equipment and may be called out by the company control center to address instrumentation or electrical equipment issues.

Responsibilities

• Understand accepted troubleshooting guidelines for PLC, control valves, and all PLC logic.
• Possess overall knowledge of the installation, operation, and repair of assigned equipment.
• Maintain sufficient inventory of electrical supplies and repair parts for emergency situations.
• Take care of company vehicle, keeping it clean and organized.
• Report any unsafe practices or actions to supervisor.
• Continually look for better and more efficient ways of performing job duties.
• Keep lines of communication open with supervisor and other employees while meeting customer needs.
• Respond to callouts for equipment issues.
• Work with project managers, engineers, and contractors on new construction projects.
• Maintain all controls, monitor alarms, and conduct sensor tests.
• Troubleshoot and schedule electrical maintenance for assigned locations.
• Assist PLC programming personnel.
• Supervise electrical contractors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Adhere to state, federal, and local laws, company policies, and safety practices in all tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• General knowledge of compressor stations, gathering systems, and processing plant operations.
• Journeyman electrician certification.

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer orientation.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
• Apply common sense to carry out day-to-day operations.
• Ability to make quick and reasonable decisions in sometimes-adverse conditions.
• Understanding of electrical motor control.
• Knowledge of electrical prints and ability to make red-line changes.
• Understanding of PLC cause and effect.
• Valid state operating license and acceptable driving record as determined by the company.

Working Conditions

• Uses physical force to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment/tools.
• Climbs and works at various heights.
• May work in standing, sitting, lying down, crouched, or kneeling positions.
• Routinely reacts to visual, aural, and other signals, including alarms and instructions.
• Regularly bends, stoops, moves between ground and higher levels, and lifts up to 50 lbs.
• Manually transports loads up to 75 lbs. and applies up to 150 pounds of torque.
• Regularly enters and exits vehicles and rides over rough roads.
• Walks an average of 5 miles per day, up to 7 miles.
• Subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Subject to overtime and callouts.
• Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial, and electrical equipment.
• Required to climb equipment and work in confined areas (e.g., tanks, between compressors, vessels).
• May work in hazardous conditions, including hydrocarbon vapor, adverse weather, and extreme temperatures.
• Wears safety equipment as required.
