About the role
The Assistant will support the dispensing of DME prescribed by providers and assist the DME Department under the direction of the DME Administrator.
Responsibilities
- Properly fit and educate patients on DME products prescribed by providers at multiple locations.
- Provide education on application, use, and care of DME products.
- Measure and fit functional braces, coordinate with patients for follow-up appointments as needed.
- Be the primary point of contact for scheduling, addressing patient concerns, and handling issues.
- Assist with defective returns or exchanges following proper protocols and procedures.
- Document patient information accurately and efficiently.
- Aid in maintaining DME inventory across all locations, including organizing, cleaning, and managing inventory.
- Help collect and notify patients of any financial responsibilities related to DME, such as deposits, deductibles, co-insurances, or cash & carry payments.
- When necessary, assist with submitting and obtaining pre-authorizations and checking patient benefits according to their insurance policy or Workers' Compensation - Auto Case.
- Maintain clear communication with patients, providers, teams, and the DME Administrator.
