Qualifications

Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for assignment
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, Master's preferred
Advanced level proficiency in Spanish language on ACTFL written and oral assessments
English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Learner (ELL), or Bilingual Education endorsement, preferred
Successful teaching experience in middle level grades, preferred
Successful experience teaching across diverse populations, preferred
Willingness and desire to assist a teaching team in implementing an interdisciplinary instructional program
Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques which are used to maximize student learning

Essential Functions

  • Teaches middle level content with a high degree of skill which may include an assignment to a combination grade-level classroom
  • Teaches in an instructional program that meets the students’ individual needs at their individual instructional level and makes modifications when necessary
  • Works as an enthusiastic part of a learning-centered environment believing that each student can learn
  • Uses the PLC process to improve instruction, learning, and assessment
  • Maintains effective, positive classroom management
  • Provides a safe environment and handles discipline in a positive manner
  • Works and plans cooperatively and collaboratively
  • Serves as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students
  • Acts actively in engaging students in using technology in individual and collaborative learning activities
  • Works in a flexible and cooperative manner
  • Treats co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times
  • Serves as a positive role model for students, and practices the behaviors that are expected of our students
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location and the Comprehensive Professional Agreement to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements

Benefits/Compensation

  • Salary range: $66,175 - $124,733 (includes Base & TRI enrichment; commensurate upon FTE, degree, credits and experience)
  • Additonal Compensation: Certificated positions may have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary range such as, but not limited to TRI professional learning, extended year days, extra appendix E supplemental days and professional development reimbursement
  • Benefits: Employees who are anticipated to work at least 630 hours may be eligible for health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life, and disability insurance benefits
  • Retirement: Employees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS)
