Dual Certified: Math/Special Education Teacher

Full-time, 10-month, tenure-track assignment.

About the role

The Dual-Certified Mathematics / Special Education Teacher designs and delivers specialized math instruction for students with disabilities. Aligning lessons with NYS Next Generation Mathematics Learning Standards, the teacher modifies curricula to fulfill student IEP goals, manages compliance, and collaborates with families and school teams to close achievement gaps in an inclusive classroom environment.

Reports to: Principal

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver modified, accessible mathematics lessons tailored to diverse learners.
• Write, implement, and monitor student IEP goals, maintaining strict regulatory compliance.
• Administer and analyze diagnostic math assessments to track progress and adjust interventions.

Requirements

• Dual NYS certification in Mathematics and Students with Disabilities (SWD).
• Experience teaching math in special education settings and managing/writing NYS-compliant IEPs.
• Ability to adapt NYS Next Generation Math Standards using differentiated instruction and accommodations.
• Experience implementing positive behavioral supports in inclusive or self-contained classrooms.
• Strong skills for co-teaching, case management, and partnering with families and school teams.

Pay

$60,000 - $80,000 approximate (BOCES Faculty Association Contract)
