About the role
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient operations of the Front Desk, Housekeeping, and Engineering departments. They are committed to providing all guests with quality service and a clean, safe environment throughout their stay, while effectively managing expenses and maximizing service levels. The role also includes assisting and supporting front‑of‑the‑house operations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Respond to all guest requests, complaints, and accidents presented at the Front Desk or through reservations, comment cards, letters, or phone calls in an attentive, efficient, and courteous manner, and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Maximize room revenue and occupancy by reviewing status daily; analyze variances, monitor credit‑card reports, and maintain close observation of daily house count.
- Prepare team‑member schedules according to business forecasts, payroll‑budget guidelines, and productivity requirements.
- Conduct effective interviews and recruit team members.
- Operate all aspects of the front‑office system, including software maintenance, report generation and analysis, and simple programming.
- Maintain knowledge of the accident‑prevention program, including safety committee activities, education/enforcement, and communication of safety issues through department meetings.
- Investigate, report, and follow up on employee and guest accidents.
Requirements
- Strong guest‑service orientation with a focus on quality and safety.
- Ability to manage expenses while maximizing service levels.
- Analytical skills for revenue, variance, and credit‑card report analysis.
- Experience preparing schedules and adhering to payroll‑budget guidelines.
- Effective interviewing and recruiting abilities.
- Proficiency with front‑office software, report generation, and basic programming.
- Knowledge of safety and accident‑prevention programs and procedures.
Pay
$95,000–$100,000 per year
