About the role

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide individualized support to adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role involves driving and accompanying patients throughout the community to help them achieve short‑term and long‑term personal goals. DSPs serve as mentors, advocates, and life coaches by fostering independence, teaching life skills, promoting community engagement, and supporting meaningful participation in social, recreational, educational, and vocational activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household chores.
• Transport clients to and from community activities.
• Support individuals in achieving developmental goals and fostering independence.
• Encourage community participation and accompany individuals on outings and social activities.
• Document observations and progress on specific goals while ensuring a safe environment for clients.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active driver’s license and TB screening.
• NCI Training and CPR/FA certification.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
• Technological proficiency, including use of mobile devices for documentation.
• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a plus.
