AHRC Nassau provides OPWDD-approved Day Habilitation Services in over 30 locations across Nassau County. We offer no-cost door-to-door transportation, medical oversight by registered nurses, and an engaged staff who provide meaningful and person-centered experiences daily.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–3:30 PM (40 hours per week). Family-friendly daytime hours.

Pay

$16.00 per hour, up to $17.00 with experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the volunteer in all activities designed to manage maladaptive behaviors and/or clinical needs, and promote independence and social maturity.
• Manage behavioral crisis situations within the day program and in the community.
• Implement and record the progress of habilitative and clinical services plans for one volunteer in the Day Program.
• Serve as a member of activity room staff, performing routine direct care responsibilities for the activity room and other volunteers as directed by the Site Manager.
• In the event of the volunteer’s absence, follow supervisor-determined reassignment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Six months of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities (preferred).
• Proficient in verbal, written, and reading skills.
• Completion of advanced training upon supervisor’s request (e.g., CPR, Clinical Training); AMAP and SCIP-R certification required.
• Qualified NYS driver’s license required.
• Proficiency in behavioral management techniques.
