About the role
Join our nursing team at the Special Commitment Center (SCC) as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 2 and make a meaningful impact by providing compassionate, person-centered care to individuals with cognitive disabilities. Located on McNeil Island, our facility is surrounded by nature and offers stunning views of Mount Rainier and Puget Sound. We treat individuals who are detained and/or civilly committed, assisting them in addressing their sexual offending histories.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe and verify orders.
- Order medication refills and renewals.
- Inform Providers and Nurse Manager of developments or changes in residents’ health status.
- Educate residents on health conditions, medication management, and treatment plans.
- Maintain optimal pharmacy operations.
- Prepare and maintain medication carts.
- Provide patient care to our aging facility population.
- Provide treatment and nursing care for people with mental illnesses, developmental disabilities, neurological, physiological, or behavioral health disorders.
- Assist in developing and managing Individual rehabilitation plans for residents to help improve and maintain health.
- Implement care plans, administer medications, and assist physicians and other medical staff with treatments and exams.
- Respond to medical calls and emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned by providers, RN3, and/or RN4.
- Maintain up-to-date nursing skills and abilities, including IV starts, IV fluids administration, laboratory processes, and phlebotomy.
Requirements
- Valid Washington state Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, or ability to obtain the license prior to employment.
- Demonstrated ability to apply practical nursing principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in performing and interpreting basic physical assessments and treatment techniques.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on compassionate, person-centered care.

Schedule
Day Shift - Sunday to Wednesday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM.

McNeil Island. Ferry transportation is provided to employees.
