About the role

Join our team as a Registered Nurse 2 at Lake Burien Transitional Care Facility in Burien. You'll provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care that supports the health, safety, and well-being of youth in a residential treatment setting.

Responsibilities

  • Independently assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet residents' medical and behavioral health needs.
  • Conduct nursing assessments, sick call, and monitor residents' physical and mental health, documenting observations and changes in condition.
  • Administer medications and treatments, assist with examinations and procedures, and ensure safe medication management in accordance with physician orders.
  • Develop, implement, and update nursing care plans in collaboration with physicians, behavioral health providers, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Provide patient advocacy, education, rehabilitation support, and admission, transfer, and discharge services while promoting a therapeutic and recovery-focused environment.
  • Maintain compliance with nursing standards, infection prevention practices, facility policies, and quality assurance initiatives to support safe, effective care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource by collaborating with staff, participating in treatment team meetings, and helping maintain a safe, supportive environment for residents.

Requirements

  • Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles, standards of practice, and patient-centered care.
  • Ability to assess patient conditions, exercise sound clinical judgment, and provide safe, effective nursing care.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health, infection prevention, emergency response, and therapeutic treatment practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Able to accurately document assessments, treatments, and patient progress while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Commitment to professional growth, teamwork, and delivering compassionate care in a residential treatment environment.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing AND one year of professional nursing experience OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Benefits

  • King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use.
  • Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $49,000 - $54,000 annually.

Schedule

This position's work schedule alternates every week:

  • Week 1: Sunday - Tuesday (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM) and Wednesday (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM)
  • Week 2: Sunday - Tuesday (6:30 AM - 7:00 PM)

Note: Applicants must possess a valid Washington State license to practice as a registered, professional nurse.
