DSHS FTAA ServiceNow Developer Senior Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a self-starter, collaborative, and independent Senior ServiceNow Developer to join the Division of Information Technology (DIT) team within the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS).

Responsibilities

  • Customize user interfaces, portals, and service catalogs using HTML, CSS, and AngularJS to improve the user experience and service delivery.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge and considerable discretion to evaluate and resolve complex tasks such as constructing efficient applications using stored procedures, functions, server & user controls, web services (using SOAP, UDDI and WSDL) and standard libraries.
  • Design, configure, and maintain integration between ServiceNow and external systems using REST/SOAP APIs or ServiceNow Spokes and the Integration Hub to ensure seamless data exchange for business operations.
  • Conduct peer code reviews on products developed by junior or peer positions.
  • Code, compile, and test programs and databases to ensure design specifications are met.
  • Consult with business owners/users to translate business requirements and offerings into system functionality and automation.
  • Develop user-interface (UI) design, coding, testing and implementation of application components and web services.
  • Develop and implement new applications, modules, and workflows for various ServiceNow products (e.g., ITSM, HRSD, ITOM) by writing JavaScript code or low code/no code, configuring business rules, UI policies, and data lookups to automate and streamline business processes.
  • Develop data policies, UI actions, business rules and client scripts to automate and standardize that ensure SaaS applications align with business processes.
  • Develop and publish system workflows to automate business and IT support processes in support of agency-wide services delivery.
  • Utilizes agency release management processes to ensure system features and changes are properly documented and tracked prior to official release.
  • Utilizes development environments to ensure system modifications are properly tested prior to release.
  • Coordinates with system administrators to ensure software and platform version releases are properly tested and approved prior to release into production.
  • Train business customers to effectively utilize application functionality to include knowledge and task management, ad-hoc reporting and general usage.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree including 9 semester or 15 quarter hours of computer science courses AND Seven years of consultative, administrative or supervisory experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, application development, troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing, or programming computer systems applications or databases.
  • Or Associates degree or completion of an accredited vocational training program in an Information Technology or related program and nine years of consultative, administrative, or technical supervisory experience in Information Technology analysis, system maintenance, application development, troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing or programming computer systems applications or databases.
  • Or Eleven years as an Information Technology System Administration technician or equivalent or higher. Consultative, administrative experience in information technology analysis, system maintenance, or troubleshooting/problem resolution experience, or analyzing, designing or programming computer systems applications or databases, or technical support in information technology, or administering or supervising staff that performed work in any of these information technology disciplines will substitute for education on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education.
  • Or A master’s degree will substitute for three years of the required experience.
  • Acceptable professional IT certifications that are currently held and not lapsed can be substituted for up to three years of experience with each certification equivalent to one year of experience.
  • One to three years of hands-on experience with ServiceNow development related to the underlying web technologies of ServiceNow (e.g., JavaScript, HTML, Glide scripts, CSS, or other PaaS technologies).
  • Experience with integrations using API's, SOAP/REST, ServiceNow Integration Hub Spokes, is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations Certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with designing, developing, testing, implementing, and managing large scale development and integration projects.
  • Experience with developing and implementing internal standards to guide the organization in design of technical solutions.
