DSHS CSTC Program Director / Psychologist

About the role

The Child Study Treatment Center (CSTC) of the Behavioral Health & Habilitation Administration within the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is seeking a Program Director/Psychologist 4 to join the dedicated San Juan Cottage team. This position involves working closely with a Medical Director and a psychiatrist, consulting with state-funded therapy care teams, and providing individual and family therapy to children and adolescents.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based treatment plans for patients and educate parents/caregivers.
  • Provide individual and family psychotherapy to children and adolescents.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Engage with parents to support their role in the rehabilitation of patients and help them transition back to their home environment.
  • Assess the quality of the cottage milieu and consult with each member for safe and effective management.
  • Grow as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and contribute to the development of center staff.

Requirements

  • A Doctor of Psychology, Ph.D., or Psy.D. in clinical or forensic psychology from an accredited university.
  • At least 3 years of psychology experience, including supervising other psychology interns.
  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a license in Washington to practice psychology.
  • Experience with child and adolescent populations, including Chemical Dependency Assessment, Prevention, and Treatment, Developmental Theory/Developmental Teaching Model, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Functional Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Milieu Management.

  • Preferred training and experience with Evidence-based Models of Treatment.

Skills

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of various therapeutic models.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
