About the role
Responsible for friendly and accurate preparation of all drinks ordered at an entertainment venue. The bartender may also support additional on-site and off-site promotional events as needed. Must be outgoing with the ability to engage and entertain guests.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in a timely manner and obtain beverage and/or food orders.
- Initiate conversation with guests.
- Mix ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, and fruit juice to prepare beverages.
- Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
- Ensure legal drinking age when unsure for alcoholic beverages.
- Know drink prices and proper measurement.
- Know information regarding all Food & Beverage Outlets to inform guests when asked.
- Operate cash register: accept money from customers and count back appropriate change; process credit card purchases; count and balance money/credit card purchases, and comps against receipts in register before and after each shift.
- Follow cash handling procedures.
- Order and requisition liquors and supplies.
- Prepare garnishments.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive display.
- Pre-bus station regularly.
- Assist with inventory and inventory control.
- Complete assigned opening and closing side work.
- Claim tips received according to laws governing wage reporting.
- Provide Red Carpet Service to every patron and employee.
- Work well under pressure and meet multiple, sometimes competing deadlines.
- Adhere to all corporate and local policies, procedures, and operating guidelines.
- Perform duties in a safe manner; report any potential safety hazards to management staff.
- Answer questions when a manager is not available.
- Demonstrate ethical and cooperative behavior with guests, co-workers, and leadership at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned by department and/or company management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or G.E.D preferred.
- 6 months or more relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- 6 months or more experience in a fast-paced environment with cocktail service experience in a nightclub or casino preferred.
- Must qualify for certification through NMAST.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English required.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and promote a cooperative approach between departments.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Strong knowledge of spirits, wine, champagne, and mixed cocktails.
- Basic math skills, ability to handle cash, and accurately make change.
- Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to company standards.
- Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Comfortable wearing and performing in an approved uniform that may be suggestive and/or revealing in nature.
- Ability to wear up to a 2” heel in company-approved shoes.
Physical Demands
- Frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and standing for long periods of time.
- Walking and/or standing 90% of the time.
- Lifting up to 50 pounds to stack, store, or move materials, supplies, and equipment.
Work Environment
- Mostly works inside the building.
- Regularly exposed to airborne particles, toxic fumes, and/or chemicals.
- Noise level in the work environment is very loud.
- Exposure to bright lighting.
- Exposure to unrestricted second-hand smoke.
