GBX Consultants, Inc is searching for a Substance Abuse Counselor to support the Cass Civilian Conservation Center Job Corps Program in the Ozark National Forest in Ozark, AR.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure orientation of new students to the center’s Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP) as a center-wide alcohol and drug prevention and education effort with a focus on preventing barriers to employability.
  • Provide center-wide substance prevention and education services that encourage healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Conduct assessments of students to identify substance use problems and develop intervention services as needed.
  • Coordinate career plans and intervention planning with center counselors, health providers, educators, and instructors to update a student’s intervention plan and behavioral contract. Ensure the plan guides a student’s expected behavior in all areas of center life and incorporation for employment.
  • Conduct ongoing counseling and support groups, including an introduction to the self-help program for intervention and annual events surrounding prevention.
  • Coordinate relapse prevention services.
  • Ensure adherence to Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance policy for substance abuse among students.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the biochemical testing program and ensure the integrity of the program is maintained.
  • Collaborate with the recreation department to assist in developing leisure time activities and specific incentives to reinforce an alcohol and other drug-free lifestyle.
  • Coordinate and participate in Tobacco Use Prevention (TUPP) programming, Healthy and Active Life Styles (HEALS) programming, and other center activities.
  • Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Counselor regarding support and intervention needs of students with co-occurring conditions of substance abuse.
  • Ensure patient privacy for all assessments; maintain, safeguard, and ensure the confidentiality of all required student health records in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Requirements

  • Must have a Licensed Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC) credential and be an independent practitioner in the state of Arkansas.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a licensed independent practitioner, providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents and young adults.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a healthcare team to provide optimal services to a population of financially disadvantaged youth, typically ranging from 16 to 24 years in age.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug testing.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent alphanumeric keyboarding.
  • Oral communication over the phone and in person.
  • Ability to view computer monitor.
