Driver-Yard/Plant (class A) - HDTR06

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production needs
• Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area
• Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading
• Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers
• Load and unload trailer via forklift or pallet jack
• Receive inventory
• Detail orientated, follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post trip inspections of equipment in the area
• Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log
• Keep the yard neat and orderly
• Transport trucks and trailers for repairs, as necessary, according to policies and procedures and safety protocols
• May also operate wash bay using all necessary equipment to clean tractors and trailers

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred
• Must meet minimum age requirements
• Must meet all DOT requirements
• Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements
• Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed

Education and Experience

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation
• Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly
• Able to use computers and technology needed for the job
• Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size
• Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
• Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps for problem-solving
• Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
