Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform trailer movement according to prioritization to optimize plant or warehouse efficiencies and production needs
- Hook, unhook and move trucks to and from the service department and around dock area
- Spot or position loaded and unloaded trailers at assigned dock space for unloading or loading
- Connect loaded semitrailers to tractors for the drivers
- Load and unload trailer via forklift or pallet jack
- Receive inventory
- Detail orientated, follow steps to ensure proper operation and perform periodic preventive maintenance including pre and post trip inspections of equipment in the area
- Maintain accurate trailer and inventory movement log
- Keep the yard neat and orderly
- Transport trucks and trailers for repairs, as necessary, according to policies and procedures and safety protocols
- May also operate wash bay using all necessary equipment to clean tractors and trailers
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred
- Must meet minimum age requirements
- Must meet all DOT requirements
- Meet Dairy Farmers of America Motor Vehicle Record requirements
- Current CDL (Class A) license in state of residence; current tanker endorsement if needed
Education and Experience
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Tractor/trailer experience, within the last five years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Understanding of DOT transportation regulations related to lawful operation
- Able to work safely and recognize sudden hazards and adjust accordingly
- Able to use computers and technology needed for the job
- Skills with math sufficient to calculate load size
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
- Able to be proactive in seeking solutions, taking appropriate steps for problem-solving
- Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork
- Able to follow directions and meet deadlines
