Driver Trainer (CDL A)
About the role
We are hiring a Driver Trainer in Hyattsville, MD, Dundalk, MD, Linthicum Heights, MD, and Manassas, VA (Plant). The position involves training new drivers, working with safety mentors, and participating in safety assist visits.
Responsibilities
- Train new drivers, assisting with a two-day onboarding class and a three-week onboarding period in coordination with local safety mentors.
- Work with struggling drivers to correct bad habits identified by the LYTX camera system.
- Assist with vehicle accident investigations.
- Participate in safety assist visits to locations, including ride-alongs and driver evaluations.
Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. Hazmat, Tanker & Airbrakes Endorsements.
- Valid Medical Examiner's Card.
- One (1) year of prior Class A professional driving experience within the last five (5) years and a clean driving record to include no more than two (2) convictions, OR two (2) at-fault accidents in the last three years; OR no more than a combination of one (1) conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last three years.
- Strong knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
- Fifty percent travel and potential overnight travel.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years in Manager or supervisory role preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years commercial driving experience preferred.
Skills
Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
