Driver Trainee

You’ll learn the ropes alongside our team in roles like Bulk and Cylinder Driver, Material Handler, Forklift Specialist, and Drier Helper. We’ll cover the cost of earning your CDL and HAZMAT endorsements while you train and get paid.

Responsibilities

• Attend courses required to obtain a CDL license and/or endorsements/certifications as mandated by state law.
• Operate vehicles safely in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and company guidelines.
• Use an electronic hand-held computer throughout the day and perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Train alongside a Ferrellgas/Blue Rhino Driver, learning commercial driving regulations and safe driving practices.
• Assist in loading, unloading, and transporting hazardous materials to customer locations.
• Prepare and maintain records in accordance with federal, state, local regulations, and company procedures.
• Work toward meeting all DOT requirements.
• Inspect, paint, repair, and load tanks and cylinders; maintain the appearance of displays and signs.
• Handle and maintain the flow of materials and products under safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional appearance of Ferrellgas offices, plants, and yards.
• Perform responsibilities during evening hours and weekends as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to obtain a valid Class A CDL license with hazmat and tanker endorsements (Class B accepted at the discretion of the Hiring Manager for straight truck operation).
• Clean driving record.
• Proficiency in speaking, writing, and understanding English.
• Ability to pass the CDL exam, background check, MVR, company background check, drug screen, and physical abilities test.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, lawful permanent resident, or authorized to work in the United States without current or future need for sponsorship.
• Agreement to sign and abide by the company’s reimbursement agreement at the time of hire.
