Roles And Responsibilities
- Aids the crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance tasks.
- Supports equipment operators by swamping, hand digging, and locating underground obstructions.
- Operates specialized equipment such as jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners, and other industry tools.
- Safeguards machinery, equipment, and materials by signaling equipment operators.
- Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate potential hazards.
- Maintains paperwork during the day, including DVIR and driver’s logbook.
- Ensures the truck has necessary licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance.
Success Factors
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, especially in adverse climatic conditions.
- Strength to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift.
- Physical capability to climb, dig, work in confined spaces, on uneven surfaces, walk, stoop, and kneel.
- Comprehension and adherence to specific oral and written instructions.
- Effective teamwork and independent work abilities.
- Proficiency in English for record-keeping, placing orders, and preparing simple narrative reports.
- Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
Experience And Education
- One (1+) year experience working in construction.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- A valid State Driver’s License is required.
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B is required.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.
- Criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks are required.
- A pre-employment drug screen is a requirement of the job.
