Roles And Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to the crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance tasks.
- Supports equipment operators by swamping, hand digging, and locating underground obstructions.
- Operates specialized equipment such as jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners, and other industry tools.
- Safeguards equipment operators by signaling for alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate potential hazards.
- Maintains paperwork during the day, including DVIR and driver’s logbook.
- Ensures the truck has current licenses, tags, permits, and proof of insurance.
Success Factors
- Capable of performing heavy manual labor for extended periods, especially under adverse climatic conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift.
- Skills to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walk, stoop, and kneel.
- Capacity to comprehend and adhere to specific oral and written instructions.
- Proficiency in working independently and collaboratively with co-workers.
- Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy.
- Fluent in English usage to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports.
- Willingness and capability to learn additional skills.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.
- Criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and pre-employment drug screen as requirements of the job.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B is required.
- Passes a Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated physical as a requirement of the job.
