Driver

The Orchard Assisted Living is seeking a Driver to safely transport residents for routine scheduled shopping excursions, appointments, Life Enrichment activities, and other outings.

  • Safely transports residents on scheduled outings
  • Observes safety regulations and requirements at all times
  • Schedules routine preventative maintenance for vehicles and keeps vehicles in good repair
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the vehicles, inside and out
  • Assists in gathering residents before and during outings and ensures their safety
  • Keeps records and schedules of individual resident requests
  • Calculates group trip costs, obtains charge paperwork from residents, and forwards billing to the Business Office Manager
  • Records mileage and maintains vehicle log
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Maintenance and/or Director of Life Enrichment
  • Exhibits a courteous, helpful demeanor at all times to provide attentiveness and respect to residents and team members
  • Ensures all residents and passengers are safely buckled in their seats when transporting
  • Understands protocol in reporting accidents and incidents to proper authorities when necessary
  • Understands that talking or texting and using personal music devices while driving is prohibited
  • Works in a safe and alert manner
  • Exhibits ownership for associate’s and residents’ safety
  • Leads by example exhibiting the CORE Values through servant leadership
  • Possesses a passion to work with and around senior citizens
  • Attends required community meetings and participates in Life Enrichment activities when able
  • Completes all required courses in adherence with HRA University
  • Is prompt and able to perform the required duties of the position on a regular, predictable basis
  • Becomes familiar and understands how to report a missing person using the Safe Return program or equivalent

Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements

  • High school education
  • Valid Commercial Drivers License with passenger endorsement in the state if required
  • One-year experience preferred
  • Good driving skills in handling vehicles on wet and/or slippery roads
  • Able to load and unload wheelchair-dependent residents in a safe, caring, and courteous manner
  • Exceptional knowledge of all aspects of safe driving
