About the role

OUR CORE PURPOSE: As an expression of God’s love in Southwest Florida, we exist to ensure that no one experiencing hunger, homelessness or addiction is alone or without a pathway for their journey from crisis to contributor. A Driver-Mover with St. Matthew’s House picks up donated items and delivers customer purchases throughout Collier, Lee, and Hendry Counties. We operate in a safety-oriented, faith-based team environment that emphasizes organization, teamwork, compassion, efficiency, and excellent customer service. St. Matthew’s House is faith based 501(c)(3) charitable organization that exists to transform lives in a spiritual environment that is both compassionate and disciplined.

Responsibilities

• Pick up donated items and deliver customer purchases throughout Collier, Lee, and Hendry Counties.
• Operate large box trucks safely and maneuver in and out of tight areas.
• Provide a high level of customer service, including safety, courtesy, and positive communication, and ensure other staff maintain the same standards.
• Handle confidential information appropriately.
• Work safely and cooperatively with a variety of customers and in various situations.
• Lift and carry more than 75 lbs up and down stairs for extended periods.
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance.
• Work in warehouses, trucks, and donor pickup sites (businesses and private homes).
• Accept some overtime and work on certain holidays as required.
• Demonstrate flexibility in work hours.

Requirements

• Valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Ability to maintain high level customer service (safety, courtesy, positive communication) and ensure others do the same.
• Ability to safely handle large box trucks and maneuver in tight areas.
• Trustworthy, works well in a team environment, maintains a neat, professional appearance.
• Ability to work safely and cooperatively in a variety of situations with a variety of customers.
• Ability to lift and carry more than 75 lbs up and down stairs for extended periods.
• Must pass an MVR check.
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of trucking, moving, and customer service experience (or related experience) essential.
• Travel demands: Flexibility in work hours; this position requires some overtime.
• Confidentiality: Works with confidential information.
• Mental/Visual demands: Normal mental and visual capabilities required.
• Physical demands: Must be able to lift and carry more than 75 lbs up and down stairs for extended periods in all seasons.
• Working areas: Warehouses, trucks, and donor pickup sites including businesses and private homes.

Schedule

This position requires some overtime and may include work on certain holidays. Flexibility in work hours is expected.
