About the Role

Under the supervision of the Public Safety Director or Public Safety Sergeant, this position requires the ability to drive safely in accordance with Illinois Traffic Rules and Regulations. The employee will recognize and respond to the needs and behaviors of patients across various age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain department vehicles in a dependable, efficient, safe, and reliable manner.
  • Transport patients, employees, mail, specimens, and other hospital-related items requiring driving.
  • Patrol hospital parking lots when not transporting.
  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record per hospital policy.
  • Recognize and respond to the needs and behaviors of patients in various age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric), including understanding normal patterns of behavior and assisting patients to and from the motor transportation vehicle.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of city streets, directions, and landmarks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Illinois Driver’s license is required.
