Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate batching of concrete by verifying admixtures and dosages, meeting company and customer specifications every time
- Adjust batching weights and quantities to maintain quality standards
- Champion a safe work environment for yourself and your team, following all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as required
- Collaborate with the Foreperson and team to achieve project goals and daily expectations
- Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy in all interactions
- Maintain reliable, on-time attendance to keep operations running smoothly
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Prior experience as a Batch Plant Operator preferred
- Strong understanding of concrete mix designs and components
- Verify each load for volume, mix, additives, and all relevant quality data
- Operate batching and plant equipment safely and efficiently
- Receive, inspect, and manage raw material inventories
- Maintain accurate records and logs
- Oversee cleaning and basic maintenance of the central mix plant
- Maintain plant inventories (cement, flyash, admixtures)
- Proficient in computer batching systems
- Identify problems, collect data, and communicate effectively with supervisors
- Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and company policies
- Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, and travel as needed
- Team player willing to assist with additional duties as required
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Basic operation of skid steer/BobCat equipment
- Experience with hand tools and general equipment maintenance
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to jobsite hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments
- Specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely
Preferred Knowledge & Skills
- Basic operation of skid steer/BobCat equipment
- Experience with hand tools and general equipment maintenance
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Frequently required to climb, balance, and perform tasks involving physical agility
- Sit, climb, and use hand signals or equipment; occasionally stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, crouch, or reach above shoulder height
- Lift and move objects weighing up to 25-50 lbs as needed
- Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions
