Driver Manager - Rome, NY
About the role
The Driver Manager is a member of the Day & Ross Operations Team. The role requires ensuring safe, on-time delivery for various customers while maximizing the productivity and profitability of an assigned fleet of drivers and trucks. Driver Managers create a positive quality of work for drivers, provide safe and effective driver management to enhance retention, and ensure driver adherence to company policy and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure driver success through relationship building, effective communication, positive recognition, and timely addressing of performance and personal issues.
- Provide complete load information, including routing and directions, to ensure drivers are fully prepared for work assignments.
- Assist and coach drivers on time management, including departure times and driving time management, to ensure on-time delivery and compliance with hours of service regulations.
- Maintain accurate and complete files for all records within the TMS System for drivers, trips, and customers.
- Monitor critical loads, determine when a recovery plan is needed, and execute the plan to ensure on-time delivery or achieve other objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED; logistics experience preferred.
- 4-year college degree preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in transportation required.
- Previous supervision, transportation, and/or operational experience necessary.
