We are seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee all inbound and outbound operations and events for an assigned fleet of non-union, long-haul drivers, ensuring safe and on-time delivery. Ideal candidates think strategically while managing details and can make quick, effective decisions.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships as a coach and advocate for drivers across company, dedicated, contract, graduate, regional, and Canadian fleets.
- Drive high engagement by committing to the career success and personal growth of drivers through positive working relationships.
- Review scheduled pick-up and delivery appointments daily to ensure sufficient hours of service (HOS) for on-time trip completion.
- Confirm drivers are fully informed of all customer and company expectations when freight assignments are received.
- Route drivers for scheduled home time and assist in securing equipment at authorized locations.
- Motivate drivers to meet KPIs such as utilization, service, safety, retention, and optimization.
- Counsel drivers who violate safety standards or DOT compliance, arranging re-training to help them regain good standing.
- Communicate service disruptions to internal teams to ensure timely deliveries.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to assigned drivers.
- Supply real-time data to systems of record for load assignments, planning, tracking, and tracing.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- Strong computer skills in a Windows environment (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to interact effectively at all levels, internally and externally.
- Proven track record of making rational decisions in routine and emergency situations.
- Ability to handle high volumes of inbound email, phone calls, and satellite communications.
- Capacity to perform in an environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and initiative, capable of working autonomously or in a team.
- Keen analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of time/distance geography preferred.
