To serve our customers by safely and efficiently transporting product from the warehouse by driving a tractor-trailer to various destination points according to customer invoices and company standards.
Schedule
- Typically dispatch at 3 a.m.
- Local routes: return home at night
- Routes to Spokane may result in a layover
Pay
$30.25 per hour
Responsibilities
- Safely transport product from the warehouse to customer locations, ensuring timely delivery according to assigned routes.
- Load and unload product according to customer specifications.
- Complete all paperwork accurately and submit on time, including DOT electronic or manual logs, inspections, company vehicle maintenance reports, pre- and post-trip reports, and invoices with accurate case counts matching bill of ladings.
- Ensure all food safety protocols are met, including maintaining proper temperatures in the delivery vehicle.
- Follow preferred work methods; report any unsafe conditions to management immediately.
- Maintain and safely operate assigned equipment, such as pallets, load bars, SLS unit, and personal protective equipment.
- Develop and maintain good customer relationships through excellent and courteous service with clear communication.
- Communicate with management regarding route deviations, trailer or loading issues, and customer or product issues.
- Work assigned schedule and additional hours as needed to meet customer needs; exhibit regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent degree; 1 year of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
- Completion of a tractor-trailer driving school may substitute for or supplement education requirements.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
- Must be insurable to operate a vehicle as a condition of employment.
Skills
- Knowledge of: Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Hazmat guidelines, safe lifting and delivery practices.
- Skill in: Driving over long distances and varied terrains in all weather conditions, communicating with customers, solving problems, and delivering product.
- Ability to:
- Drive a tractor-trailer unit day and night in various traffic and weather conditions while remaining alert.
- Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the company.
- Operate a 3-axle tractor, 45'–48' trailer, straight truck, onboard computer keypad, and 2-wheel hand cart.
- Read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to inquiries, and complete reports.
- Perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Plan and organize work activities independently.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
- Occasionally required to lift, push, or move product weighing up to 50 pounds by hand and push/pull up to 350 pounds using a 2-wheeled hand cart down a ramp into customer storage areas.
- Climb in and out of a tractor and trailer.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold, or humid conditions.
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts and confined spaces.
- Typically works an overnight schedule, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts with varying start times.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required to meet customer needs.
