About the role
This non-exempt position reports to the Operations Manager and combines driving and janitorial duties for The Salvation Army properties.
Schedule
8:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
Pay
$14.00 – $18.00 per hour (Grade 72).

Responsibilities
Cleaning and Sanitation
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas of The Salvation Army properties.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, including tables, chairs, and countertops.
- Clean windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.
- Maintain cleanliness in common areas such as lobbies, hallways, and meeting rooms.
Driving
- Safely transport individuals to and from Salvation Army functions.
- Record any damages or wear in the bus journal and report to Supervisor.
- Maintain and clean the interior and exterior of vehicles.
- Report any vehicle problems to supervisor.
- Secure vehicles at the end of the day by locking all doors and windows, removing trash, and handling lost-and-found items.
- Abide by all applicable driving laws and regulations.
- Participate in drug testing as requested.
- Perform special pick-ups as assigned by supervisor.
- Troubleshoot mechanical problems and report to supervisor.
- Keep all maintenance equipment in working condition and clean after every repair.
Additional Duties
- Assist in unloading and storing vendor deliveries and donations.
- Pick up weekly food bank orders and deliver to specific storage areas.
- Run other errands as assigned.
- Maintain organization of all Corps storage areas and assist as needed.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a good driving record; CDL preferred.
- Experience with driving and property cleaning/maintenance.
- Must complete the following clearance and background checks required by Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Law:
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
- PA State Police Criminal Record Check.
- PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
- Completion of a Pennsylvania-approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training prior to employment.
- Must understand and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
