Responsibilities
- Drives forklift to prepare customer orders.
- Receives product from vendors, wraps and bands pallets.
- Performs general housekeeping duties and helps load and unload trailers as needed.
- Performs all required safety checks (pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Immediately reports all safety issues and/or repairs required.
- Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
- Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; performs count checks and verifies BOL (Bill of Lading) or customer invoices.
- Accurately and legibly completes all required paperwork associated with freight.
- Drives to and delivers loads according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
- Performs damage control checks, scanning and contacting supervisor about damage according to company policy.
- Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times.
- Delivers NOW Foods and other health/natural food products to Fruitful Yield retail stores and customers’ places of business.
- Accurately maintains driver log and ensures timely completion.
- Collects payment for COD, makes change, and records transactions on customer receipts.
- Records delivery information and obtains customer signatures on receipts for pickup or delivery.
- Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors.
- Resolves service complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Unloads truck and takes product into store or customer business.
- Loads and unloads damaged goods or customer returns and completes necessary paperwork.
- Picks up raw materials and supplies from vendors and transports to main warehouse or distribution center.
- Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and keeps trailers clean.
- Complies with safety and GMP requirements.
Safety Responsibilities
- Supports a culture of safe production and exhibits safe work practices.
- Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in safety activities.
- Provides and accepts constructive peer-to-peer feedback on safety performance.
- Adheres to policies, procedures, SOPs, and safety policies.
- Reports all workplace incidents to supervisor immediately.
- Communicates safety concerns, hazards, and provides input on prevention.
- Properly uses, wears, and stores Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
- Participates in safety teams and completes safety-related activities as part of regular job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Two to three years of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last five years.
- Valid CDL Class A license with Air Brake Endorsement.
- Three years DMV/MVR record with no moving violations or accidents.
- Ability to operate and earn certifications in various Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), such as Dock Stocker, Sit-down, and Reach trucks.
- Basic computer skills; ability to navigate GPS and electronic log devices (ELDs) to record driver and vehicle activity.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, off shifts, and/or weekends.
- Previous driving experience with good safety and driving record; knowledge of Chicago and suburban streets and locations.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow highway traffic signs, signals, and GPS.

Physical Demands
- Frequently required to see, talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, ascend/descend stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to access product on floor or low shelves and operate a hand truck or forklift with a 24-inch step.
- Frequently required to lift, twist, turn, climb, and balance; must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.
- Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather with frequent stops (10+ per shift).
- Regularly lifts, moves, slides, raises, or places:
- Pallets weighing up to 55 lbs. from floor onto one side, move up to 10 feet, and return to original position.
- Up to 34 lb. box from shoulder level to 75 inches and transfer 15 lb. stacking from 6 inches to 60 inches.
- Up to 75 lbs. from 5 inches off the ground up to 46 inches high and return to original position.
- Hold and squeeze up to 50 lbs., pull one end onto a 32-36 inch table, wrap around a box, and unwrap.
Work Environment
- Tolerates working in different weather conditions and adapts to rapid environmental changes.
- Seated for extended periods while driving established routes with frequent stops.
- Requires customer or site interaction and constant communication with dispatcher.
- Travels between different locations.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
