About the role

Food and food-service delivery Drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition. They also serve as the face of our company, building lasting relationships with customers.

The Driver, Hourly CDL-A is responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight and drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely and on time, in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drivers communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, answer questions accurately, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations; ensure equipment meets company safety standards and report any issues or repairs needed.
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; immediately report all safety hazards.
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed.
  • Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule.
  • Unload products from trailer, transport items into designated customer storage areas, and perform damage control checks.
  • Scan items, contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy, and verify delivery with customer to obtain proper signatures.
  • Collect money (cash or checks) where required; load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors.
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured at all times.
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to driver check-in, and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Unload all equipment and materials, remove trash from trailers, and perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
  • At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience.
  • Valid CDL-A.
  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Pass road test.
  • Attain or have a valid current DOT Health Card and/or be able to secure a new one.
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate, and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift (product generally ranges from 10–35 pounds and up to 60–90 pounds, depending on location).

$31.00/hour
