Driver Helper- Part Time Seasonal - Days $21.50 hourly

Location: Easton, PA

Pay: $21.50 per hour

Schedule: 3 days per week, start time 4:00–5:00 a.m. (flexible)

About the role

Each year Scholastic Book Fairs, in partnership with schools across the country, hosts more than 130,000 book fair events that give more than 35 million students and their families access to thousands of affordable and educational products, helping foster a lifelong love of reading. We are currently seeking Driver Helpers for part-time seasonal roles to assist our drivers in delivering book fairs to schools and performing warehouse tasks. These positions are available during peak school-year periods (Monday–Friday) and are typically off during summer and winter school breaks.

Responsibilities

• Work with a CDL driver to deliver and pick up book fairs efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Collaborate with supervisors and drivers to maintain high customer service standards.
• Deliver and retrieve products from schools, ensuring secure and damage-free transport.
• Maintain a professional appearance, including a clean uniform and well-groomed presentation.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and complete all required continuous training materials.
• Use proper techniques for lifting, packing, and handling heavy objects, as well as pushing/pulling display cases.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including truck upkeep per company standards.

Duties

• Unpack and sort returned books and merchandise to designated locations promptly.
• Assist in picking and packing re-orders to ensure timely fulfillment.
• Prepare shipments for branch orders and distribute book reorders to picking aisles.
• Load and unload trucks, with or without mechanical assistance, and assist drivers as needed.
• Operate warehouse equipment safely, reporting any unsafe conditions or injuries to management.
• Handle all merchandise carefully to avoid damage, bending, or tearing.
• May operate forklifts during peak periods.
• Accurately record labor data on collection cards.
• Participate in inventory counts.
• Maintain courteous and positive relationships with all customers.
• Assist other associates with tasks as requested by supervisors.
• Help receive and sort inbound shipments and prepare outbound shipments.
• Maintain and repair display cases, including handles, shelves, wheels, latches, and locks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. and push, pull, or handle cases weighing over 350 lbs. regularly.

• Proficiency in using scanner systems with minimal errors.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
• Customer service-oriented with strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Basic math skills and ability to read road maps and follow directions.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
