About the role
The Yard Associate safely loads, unloads, and handles millwork products—windows, doors, trim, and related building materials. Responsibilities include receiving vendor deliveries, stocking and organizing inventory, preparing customer orders for pickup and delivery, maintaining a clean and safe yard/warehouse, and assisting with deliveries as a driver helper when needed.
Responsibilities
- Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer-service philosophy.
- Load and unload millwork products according to sales invoices and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and stage customer orders for pickup and delivery, ensuring accuracy and product quality.
- Accurately record all merchandise returns on a credit memo.
- Receive, inspect, stock, and organize millwork inventory and vendor deliveries.
- Label, track, and organize special-order millwork products.
- Assist customers with product and service needs.
- Handle, package, and secure millwork products to prevent damage.
- Operate and maintain equipment such as forklifts, banders, saws, and other material-handling tools.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe millwork shop, warehouse, and yard.
- Assist with deliveries as a driver helper, including loading, unloading, and delivering materials.
- Perform duties in all weather conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to operate or obtain certification for forklifts and chainsaws.
- Physical strength to lift and carry 75 pounds consistently.
- Ability to use a tape measure and follow directions.
- Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions.
- Customer-oriented self-starter who adapts easily to new tasks.
Qualifications
- Desire to learn and grow professionally.
- Self-motivated and productive.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical systems.
- Lumber-yard material-handling, order-fulfillment, or long-load forklift experience is helpful.
