Driver Helper

About the Role

We are looking for a safety-conscious Driver Helper to join our team in Pontotoc, MS. This role involves assisting with the collection of solid waste on specified routes.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate on and around a garbage truck to collect solid waste.
• Read route sheets and service each customer identified on the sheet or as assigned by the dispatcher.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including loading and unloading waste.
• Operate hydraulic hand controls to lift/load refuse and dispose of trash at designated facilities.
• Interact courteously with customers and perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Schedule

A typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays as needed, totaling 50+ hours per week.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Extensive physical activity requiring strenuous work, including heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling objects over 50 pounds.
• Exposure to physical risks such as moving mechanical parts; basic safety precautions are required.
• Exposure to outside weather conditions, including wet/humid environments, fumes, and vibration.
• Moderate noise levels are typical.
