About the Role
Assists residents with loading and unloading from facility-approved vehicles. Ensures the safe transportation of residents to scheduled medical appointments or other approved activities, resident outings, and similar events. Maintains the interior and exterior of facility vehicles to promote safe and comfortable transport for residents and project a positive image in the community. Monitors vehicle maintenance logs and delivers vehicles for regularly scheduled maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations. Must be flexible with work time in the event a resident appointment or activity runs late.
Responsibilities
- Perform safe clinical-based transfer techniques for residents, including:
- Ingress and egress of mobile patients with van transfer
- Transfer of patients into and out of wheelchairs
- Properly securing wheelchair-bound residents into van bays
- Lift, transfer, and mobilize patient weights of up to 70 pounds independently in confined areas inside the van
- Make complex decisions involving a highly dependent patient base
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 25 years
- Valid driver’s license (DL)
- Familiarity with GPS and the local driving area
- No traffic crimes in the last 7 years, including:
- DUI, DWS, reckless driving, or traffic felonies
- Leaving the scene with injuries or assault with a vehicle
- No more than 2 moving violations in 3 years
- No more than one accident in 3 years
- Pass a drug screen and background check
- Successfully completed CNA training and maintain all continuing education (CE) to keep certification current
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite products
Skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand job-related instructions and manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and residents
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Physical Demands
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear
- Perform duties in confined areas inside the van
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
