Driver

Responsibilities

• Pre and post trip inspections of all company owned and operated trucks
• Maintain all required logs of driving hours and vehicle service and repair status in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Pick up material from supplier locations and deliver to SA Recycling and customer locations as directed by dispatch.
• Properly secure all cargo for transport using the appropriate methods.
• Communicate any safety or equipment issues with management.
• Operate effectively and safely on all staging areas, parking surfaces, and roads.
• Keep vehicles clean and organized and present the best impression to the public.
• Use personal protective equipment as required by SA Recycling, its customers, and as required by the type of material being transported.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent work experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
• Three (3) plus years’ commercial driving experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a manual transmission preferred.
• Minimum 21 years old.
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical, meet all qualifications of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR), and pass a background check.
• Candidates may not have more than 2 moving violations within the past 2 years for consideration.

Physical Requirements

• Work Environment: Scrap metal recycling and shredder yard.
• Equipment & Tools: Trucks up to 18 wheeler, hydraulic truck tilt and lift operations, box containers, mechanics tools.
• Physical Demand Level: Light to moderate.
• Work Capacity: Truck Driver Work Capacity.
• Sensory Demands: Hearing, vision, touch, smell and taste.
• Hand Movements: Repetitive motions, gripping.
