Responsibilities
- Operates multi-passenger specialized vehicle to transport residents to services within community.
- Operate vehicles with specialized equipment, such as wheelchair lifts to transport and secure passengers with special needs.
- Drive multi-passenger vehicles to transport residents between Village and destination such as appointments, shopping areas, Village sponsored events.
- Pick up or meet residents according to requests, appointments, or schedule.
- Communicate with the community by radio, telephone, or computer to exchange information and receive requests for passenger service.
- Aid residents on and off bus, ensuring they are seated properly, and help carry luggage.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
- Comply with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
- Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
- Vacuum and clean interiors, and wash and polish exteriors of vehicles.
- Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Record information on trip sheets, along with trip information such as time and place of pickup and drop-off.
- Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers or trips, hours worked, mileage, and fuel.
- Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings and training opportunities in order to keep informed on current information and skills.
- Follow established policies and procedures including but not limited to Presbyterian Villages policies and Safety policies and Federal, state and local regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- No prior experience necessary
- Must be insurable by Village’s insurance carrier.
