About the role
We’re seeking a Driver to safely transport residents to appointments, activities, and errands while ensuring their comfort and well-being. In addition to providing reliable transportation, this role supports the overall operations of the community by assisting with concierge services, resident engagement, and light maintenance tasks as needed. You'll be a visible, friendly presence who helps create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for residents and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Transport residents safely in compliance with all state and federal driving regulations.
- Communicate professionally with residents, families, community staff, and medical offices.
- Inform residents and staff of pick-up and drop-off times for appointments and activities.
- Follow scheduled routes with minimal changes and provide reminders to residents as needed.
- Auxiliary residents on and off vehicles using lifts, stairs, wheelchairs, and walkers safely.
- Ensure all assistive devices are secured before vehicle departure.
- Help residents with belongings, open doors, and provide mobility assistance during outings.
- Maintain resident rosters and account for all residents during trips.
- Respond promptly to accidents or emergencies according to established protocols.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintain records for inspections, insurance, registration, and preventative maintenance.
- Provide concierge support by greeting residents and visitors, assisting with requests, and helping maintain a welcoming community environment.
- Assist with resident engagement by supporting activities, special events, outings, and other community programs as needed.
- Support the maintenance team with light maintenance tasks, room setups, deliveries, and other non-technical projects as assigned.
- Foster teamwork, take initiative, and provide support across departments to ensure excellent resident service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED
- Prior experience working with older adults preferred
- Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred
- CPR/BLS and First Aid certification required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Meet health requirements including TB clearance
- Pass state-required fingerprinting and criminal background check
- Compassion for and desire to work with older adults
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and safely assist residents
- Familiarity with vehicle operation and basic maintenance logging
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance
- Ability to talk, hear, and use vision effectively
- Occasional weekend, evening, or night work and on-call as needed
- Possible exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and other hazards
- Ability to lift and assist residents as needed, up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Frequent interaction with coworkers, residents, and vendors
