Driver
Community Housing Innovations (CHI) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting social and economic independence through quality housing and human services.
About the role
CHI seeks a full-time driver to transport customers from its locations to various community facilities. The position involves safely and appropriately transporting customers using an agency van, scheduling daily routes, and maintaining the vehicle's cleanliness and operational readiness.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport customers to various community facilities as per Transportation Requests.
- Prioritize trips to the Department of Social Services, Department of Labor, and housing appointments.
- Maintain the van in excellent condition, including regular inspections, oil changes, and tire rotations.
- Review and schedule transportation requests with the respective supervisor.
- Accurately document runs, recording mileage and destinations.
- Adhere to proper use of company resources and ensure passenger safety.
- Maintain professional boundaries and avoid fraternization with customers.
- Drive within posted speed limits and ensure all passengers wear seatbelts.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous driving experience preferred.
- Valid New York State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proficiency in English; bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects, walk distances, and climb stairs.
- Reasoning ability to make judgment calls, perform proper notifications, and make appropriate decisions.
- Ability to relate to underserved, homeless, and disabled populations.
- Organized, flexible, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Even-tempered and able to identify and defuse conflicts until professional intervention is provided.
Qualifications
- Education: HS Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience: Previous driving experience preferred.
- Certificates or Licenses: Valid NYS driver’s license and clean driving record.

Benefits
- Salary: $20.20/hour (approximately $42,016 annually).
- Overtime available.
- Open shifts: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
